What is Drumming4Healing?

Have you yearned to learn how to drum because of what you feel when you hear someone else playing or want  to sing, but don’t like what comes out when you try, There are studies that show anyone can learn new skills no matter what age through deliberate practice (practice developed with a specific goal in mind).

How wonderful it would be to take a minimal amount of skill, embrace it and expand upon it with your own intuitive creativity…..join a drum circle, create your own healing music circle but most of all as a practice for your own healing and transformation. Not only will you begin to have personal breakthroughs, but you will further strengthen your process of learning so you can continue to explore,  grow and start healing anything that ails you.

In Drumming4Healing we work on  developing our ability to chant and drum simultaneously as well as to drum in community. We have developed a series of practices that will help you build these skills slowly and methodically so you feel progress every step of the way. As you continue to work with these practices both in the group and at home, they will become more natural.

Backround

One of the earliest instruments on earth is the drum. Rhythm is innate in us through our heartbeat. How beautiful is it that we can connect with our voice, our hearts and the drum which mimics our heartbeat.

How did the slaves endure their hardships? They created rhythm with their hands, feet and tools as they worked and they chanted repetitive words and sounds which gave them energy, built a sense of community and kept them sane. This was the birth of Rhythm and Blues and why rhythm is so innate to the slaves and their descendants. In our modern electronic culture with its tendency to isolate people and minimize human physical connections, we have lost the natural skills of singing, drumming and dancing.

Some Benefits of Drumming & Chanting

-A focal point for communities to get together

-Can alter frequencies and shake things up especially within

-Changes people emotionally and rights the tendency towards harmful actions

-Connects synapses in the brain and brings you into the present

When we gather together to learn something new, the collective power of the group allows us to let our guard down and take risks together. When you feel safe to take risks, you are free to relax and experience the beauty of the moment. This is where profound healing takes place. When we are healed, we can contribute to the healing of others and the planet. This is the ultimate goal of Drumming4Healing.
